We experience the greatest sense of meaning and fulfilment when we’re able to contribute to people’s lives and the world. We contribute to the greatest extent when we know who we are, feel connected, and pair knowledge with competency. What would it look like, across school systems globally, if all students learned how to add to the world?
Developed by global education leader and Karanga Executive Joanne McEachen, Contributive Learning is a new lens for integrating academic and social-emotional learning in everyday instruction in ways that engage and empower students, teachers, families, and communities. In this interactive session, participants will learn how small, intentional changes to teaching and learning, driven by inclusive learning environments and strong student-teacher connections, build teacher confidence and capability to design learning that links academic and SEL goals. By reflecting students’ identities and aspirations in what, how, and where they learn, teachers and their students can create positive environments that are rooted in the process of Contributive Learning—in discovering who they are, connecting with others, developing knowledge and competency, and, as a result of their learning, adding meaning and joy to the world in their ways.
